Anthropic in talks to buy Decart AI for $60 billion
### Anthropic Reportedly in Talks to Acquire AI Startup Decart for $60 Billion

Anthropic is reportedly in discussions to acquire artificial intelligence startup Decart for approximately $60 billion, according to reports citing people familiar with the matter. The negotiations have not been finalized, meaning the deal could still change or fall through. If completed, the transaction would become Anthropic’s largest known acquisition and mark a major expansion of the Claude maker’s technology and infrastructure capabilities. Decart develops software designed to improve the efficiency of computing systems used to train and operate AI models. Its technology could potentially help Anthropic get more performance from its existing computing infrastructure while reducing the cost of handling increasingly demanding AI workloads. The potential acquisition comes as Anthropic continues to invest heavily in computing capacity to develop new products and support growing demand for its AI services. Reports indicate that Decart employees could join Anthropic’s inference and performance organization following a potential deal. Decart has also built technology focused on generative video and so-called world models, which are designed to understand and modify dynamic environments and live video streams in real time. The startup has attracted significant attention from investors since its founding in 2023. Decart was established by Israeli engineers Dean and Orian Leitersdorf and Moshe Shalev, who have focused on developing technologies designed to make advanced AI systems more efficient and capable. In May, Decart announced that it had raised $300 million in a funding round led by Radical Ventures. Nvidia, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners and Adobe Ventures also participated in the financing. Existing investors including Sequoia Capital, Benchmark and Zeev Ventures joined the round as well. The funding valued Decart at nearly $4 billion, representing a significant increase from its reported valuation of approximately $3.1 billion in August 2025. A potential $60 billion acquisition would therefore represent a dramatic increase over the company’s most recent private-market valuation. For Anthropic, the timing of the reported talks is particularly significant because the company is preparing for a highly anticipated initial public offering. Anthropic filed paperwork for an IPO in June, and a successful listing could become one of the largest public-market events directly associated with the generative AI boom. The offering is also expected to provide an important test of investor appetite for AI companies seeking to enter public markets. Anthropic has been expanding its network of semiconductor and cloud-computing partnerships as it attempts to address growing capacity requirements. The company has agreed to use Amazon Web Services’ custom Trainium chips under a long-term arrangement and has also announced plans to use Google’s Tensor Processing Units. Anthropic has additionally reached an agreement with SpaceX for access to computing resources. The company recently expanded its cloud infrastructure commitments through a reported $10 billion agreement with AI cloud startup Volta. Under the reported arrangement, Volta would provide computing capacity to Anthropic over six years. Volta is working with cryptocurrency mining company Bitdeer to develop a data center in Norway that would provide approximately 133 megawatts of computing capacity. The facility is expected to use Nvidia’s Vera Rubin systems and forms part of Nvidia’s broader cloud partner ecosystem. The potential Decart acquisition would fit directly into Anthropic’s strategy of securing more computing capacity while improving the efficiency of the infrastructure it already uses. Rather than relying solely on expanding hardware, acquiring technology that can make AI workloads more efficient could help Anthropic handle more demand with existing resources. It would also strengthen the company’s expertise in inference and performance optimization, areas that are becoming increasingly important as AI models grow more capable and expensive to operate. The reported $60 billion price tag demonstrates the strategic value that AI infrastructure and optimization technologies are gaining across the industry. If completed, the deal would place Decart at the center of Anthropic’s efforts to scale its AI systems while adding another major technology acquisition to the company’s rapidly expanding business ahead of its potential IPO.
