Two senior executives to take charge of Home Depot as CEO goes on leave
### Home Depot CEO Ted Decker Takes Temporary Medical Leave

The Home Depot, the world’s largest home improvement retailer, has announced a temporary change in its executive leadership. Chief Executive Officer Ted Decker will take a medical leave of absence for the next few months, the company said Wednesday. During his absence, two senior executives will share key leadership responsibilities to ensure continuity across the business. Ann-Marie Campbell, Home Depot’s executive vice president of U.S. stores and operations, will oversee the company’s day-to-day operations. Campbell has spent more than four decades with Home Depot, beginning her career with the retailer as a cashier in 1985. She steadily advanced through various leadership roles before becoming one of the company’s most senior executives. Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Richard McPhail will oversee financial management and the company’s Pro subsidiaries. McPhail joined Home Depot in 2005 and has served as CFO since September 2019. The company said Campbell and McPhail have worked together for more than 20 years and bring extensive experience to the temporary leadership arrangement. Independent lead director Greg Brenneman will serve as chairman of the board during Decker’s leave. Brenneman expressed confidence in the leadership team and said the company looks forward to Decker’s return. The temporary transition comes as Home Depot prepares to release its second-quarter financial results next week. The leadership change places particular attention on the company’s ability to maintain operational momentum during a key earnings period. Home Depot operates a vast retail network spanning the United States and several international markets. At the end of its first quarter, the company operated 2,361 retail stores and more than 1,280 SRS locations. Its operations cover all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, 10 Canadian provinces and Mexico. The retailer employs more than 470,000 associates across its operations. The company has not indicated a specific date for Decker’s return, saying only that his leave is expected to last several months. In the meantime, Campbell and McPhail will play central roles in maintaining the company’s business operations and financial direction. The announcement highlights the depth of Home Depot’s leadership bench as the retailer manages the temporary absence of its CEO. Investors and the retail industry will closely watch the company’s upcoming earnings report for further insight into its performance. Home Depot’s ability to maintain stability during the leadership transition will also remain a key focus in the months ahead. The company said its experienced management team is well positioned to guide the retailer until Decker returns to his role as CEO.
