Ampcus expands cybersecurity business with acquisition of SmarterD

Ampcus has acquired SmarterD, an AI-powered technology platform designed to bring together IT, security and compliance data from different enterprise systems, in a move aimed at strengthening Ampcus’ cybersecurity and risk management business. The companies announced the acquisition Monday, saying SmarterD will become part of Ampcus’ cybersecurity and risk management division while continuing to operate under the SmarterD brand.

SmarterD’s platform is designed to tackle the problem of data being spread across separate enterprise systems, which can make it difficult for organizations to obtain a complete picture of their technology and security environments. The platform combines information from existing systems and provides organizations with a centralized interface for monitoring risks, analyzing data and automating workflows.

Ampcus said it plans to integrate SmarterD’s technology into its existing cybersecurity and digital transformation services, particularly for businesses operating in highly regulated industries. Mike Santos, CEO of SmarterD, said the acquisition would provide the company with access to Ampcus’ global reach and established enterprise relationships. Santos will leave his day-to-day management role following the acquisition, while the SmarterD team and technology will continue under Ampcus’ ownership.

Salil Sankaran, president of Ampcus Inc., said the acquisition would strengthen the company’s cybersecurity operations as businesses face increasingly complicated security and regulatory challenges. He highlighted SmarterD’s AI-powered data convergence capabilities as an important addition to Ampcus’ technology portfolio.
