### Pia Dandiya Leads Casey Askar 46% to 44% in Florida’s Newly Redrawn 22nd District Poll

Democratic congressional candidate Pia Dandiya leads Republican candidate Casey Askar by two percentage points in a recent poll of Florida’s newly redrawn 22nd Congressional District, according to a survey conducted for the Democratic-aligned House Majority PAC.

The Impact Research poll, conducted from August 24 through August 31, found Dandiya receiving 46% support among likely voters compared with 44% for Askar in an initial head-to-head matchup. After respondents were given information about both candidates, Dandiya’s share rose to 49%, while Askar remained at 44%.

The survey also found the district’s generic congressional ballot evenly divided. Forty-six percent of likely voters said they would support a Democratic candidate, while an equal 46% said they would support a Republican candidate.

The poll’s sponsor is relevant when considering the findings because House Majority PAC is a Democratic political organization. Public polling of the race has otherwise been limited, with another August survey showing the candidates tied.

A Tavern Research poll of 551 likely voters conducted from August 10 through August 12 showed Askar and Dandiya each receiving 50% support. That survey was conducted before the Impact Research poll and reported a margin of error of approximately 4.9 percentage points.

The two publicly available surveys therefore show different topline results, with the Tavern Research poll reporting a 50%-50% race and the later Impact Research survey showing Dandiya ahead 46%-44%. The results should be viewed as individual surveys rather than as a definitive measure of the eventual election result.

### Who Is Pia Dandiya?

Dandiya is a first-time congressional candidate and former educator whose parents immigrated from India. She initially sought the Democratic nomination in Florida’s 21st Congressional District before moving her campaign to the newly configured 22nd District following Florida’s mid-decade redistricting.

Dandiya was born in Palm Beach County and previously served as a White House Fellow at the U.S. Department of Education during the Biden administration. She has also worked as an educator and school principal.

She won the Democratic primary on August 18, while Askar secured the Republican nomination, establishing the November 3 general-election matchup. Dandiya’s campaign has focused on issues including household costs, economic security and education.

### A Newly Redrawn District

Florida’s 22nd Congressional District was significantly altered during the state’s 2026 redistricting process. The new district covers portions of Broward, Palm Beach, Collier and Hendry counties and combines urban, suburban and rural communities across South Florida.

The redrawn boundaries mean that historical election results from the previous version of the district are not directly comparable with the current contest. The seat is also an open-seat race following the redistricting.

The August 18 primaries produced Dandiya as the Democratic nominee and Askar as the Republican nominee. Public polling since then has shown a closely divided contest, with the two available general-election surveys producing either a tie or a small lead for Dandiya.

### Polling Shows a Closely Divided Race

The available surveys do not show a large separation between the candidates. Tavern Research recorded a 50%-50% matchup, while the later Impact Research poll put Dandiya two points ahead in the initial head-to-head question and five points ahead after voters received additional candidate information.

Because the surveys were conducted by different pollsters and under different sponsorship arrangements, their results are best considered separately rather than combined into a single measure.

The general election is scheduled for November 3, when voters in the newly configured district will choose their representative in the U.S. House.
